Seattle is fortunate to have a strong community effort towards volunteer work. As the Emerald City, many people pitch in to keep everything looking green and I am excited to cast my effort to the cause.

My first job was in social work with the chronically mentally ill, and through it I was introduced to United Way of King County through which you can find many opportunities to get active across a vareity of causes. Numerous other agencies such as Earth Corps make use of this opportunity to get the word out about their causes.

Pictured is my latest volunteering opportunity: fall planting in Discovery Park, reclaiming a monoculture of Himalayan Blackberry with healthy, native trees and groundcover.
